Florencecourt Pure Breed Poultry Sale Returns Saturday 7th May
9.30am to 3pm
Last Year the National Trust house at Florencecourt in County Fermanagh hosted their first poultry bring and buy fair. With the imposing of strict seller rules the Florencecourt sale was hoping to promote an improvement in quality, husbandry, welfare and health of the sale stock. Differing from most other sales in the country a ban was placed on hybrid and cross bred fowl with the emphasis placed on smaller numbers of quality poultry and advice easily available for newcomers to the fancy.
Organisers were delighted by the support given by not only poultry clubs, websites and individuals but also by local media and BBC Radio Ulster. The result of the advertising campaign was a much bigger than expected fair with well over 1500 people in attendance and a busy day of trading. Sellers had a good day with a large number of birds changing hands and those there to by seemed delighted by a huge variety of quality pure rare breeds. Birds were well turned out in roomy display cages having access to both water and food. The condition of the stock was second to none with a wonderful ommission of the ill, the diseased, the infected and the infested.
Following not only a lot of support, but a huge number of well wishers and positive feedback a Spring Sale has been planned for the saturday 7th of May 2011 at the same venue. This will be run in addition to the Summer Sale in August which will still be going ahead. The same rules will be in place (Please See Below) and organisers are hoping to maintain the same high standards as were set last year.
In addition to thanking all the sellers who supplied such top quality birds last year, and to those who turned up to support the sale, thanks also to;

We are expecting a great turn out with sellers bringing bantams, large fowl, waterfowl, game and pigeons. Due to the strict seller rules we are hoping to attract sellers who would ordinarily avoid sales due to concerns about disease. Please mark it in your diary and if you are able to attend I look forward to seeing you there.
